Never lie to your clients

There's a reason why people are scared of salespeople. They think they are all the same.

I've spoken about this before. And I think I'll continue to.

I believe that building trust is the most important part of the sales process. But what happens if you can't cater to what your prospects ask of you/ your product?

You say "NO"

It might sound simple. But a simple 'No' can take you a long way.

Prospects respect your transparency and straightforwardness.

Will you lose a deal? Yes

Would you lose commissions? Maybe

Would you miss hitting your quota? Possible

But,

Would you earn a powerful connection? Yes

Would you get referrals or recommendations? Yes

Would you be able to generate a better pipeline? Yes

Above all, you feel all the more confident.

What happens when you lie/ fake a promise to close the deal?

Your customers eventually find out that you're all bluff

You lose respect as a salesperson

They spread bad word about you OR/AND your org

You're setting your company up for the loss (churn)

And, you set bad examples of salespeople in the prospect's mind

Never fake a promise that you can't keep - professionally or personally. Because someday it'll come to bite you in the back.
