Be A Sieve, Not A Sponge

Accept the advice that will help you be the seller you want to be. Politely decline the rest.

That's how I did it.

It was risky. Especially because I was under a lot of pressure when I started out.

I built on my experience.

Listened to my gut, gathered ideas from various sources and then made a decision about what would work best for me.

I didn't substitute someone else's judgement for my own. I wanted to be responsible.

If I was going to fail, it was going to be on my own terms.

And when I succeeded the satisfaction I felt from doing it my way, and my motivation to keep improving skyrocketed.

You're going to confronted with a similar choice more than once in your career.

You can stick with the "authorised" way of selling.

Or you can pick and choose the parts that work for you,

Add what you learn through experiences,

And develop a more effective and productive personal sales process that is aligned with your unique strengths and your buyer's needs.

Don't simply follow everything that work for someone else, because it might not work for you.
