10 Sales Strategies To Always Keep In Mind
Starting a career in sales can be both gripping and intimidating at the same time.
But once you’re in, it becomes a lifestyle.
Jen Ferguson in her blog for SaaSSales.io had said,
‘’Sales is a lifestyle. You invest so much of yourself. Find where you will have the support to make sure your investment will flourish.’’
Businesses happen because of sales.
And the best salespeople know that it is not just about gaining prospects but acting upon them.
Always remember persistence is the basic requisite for a salesperson.
You will have to face failures everyday. Make sure you motivate yourself!
And also, remember, rejections don’t stay rejections forever.
Competitive challenges shift.
Let me share with you my 10 🔑 learnings about Sales in recent times:
1. Act Immediately:
Don't postpone a followup. Most salespeople fail with they cut ends when they are just one step away from closing.
2. Don't Overthink. Just Act:
The best salesperson is the one that is remembered by the customer. Hunt for opportunities to reach out to and followup after.
3. Show them they matter:
Always thank a prospect after they had spent time talking to you. Show the prospect that you‘re dedicated to solve their issue.
4. Be Punctual:
When a prospect blocks out time to meet you, you have to move heaven and earth to make the meeting happen at the time you’ve committed.
5. Return calls on time:
By making a commitment to return calls you send the message ‘You are important to me‘— people who are giving this impression will dig up opportunities.
6. Meet people:
If your prospect and you live in the same city, set-up a meeting. You never know what it'll bring to you and who might introduce you to whom. Face-to-face meetings help grow network too.
7. Know when to retreat:
It is important to understand when your prospects say ‘No.‘ Don‘t beg. Let it go. It is not about closing one prospect. Find another one and know when to walk away.
8. Know when to ask for help:
Two types of reaching out for help:
1) Letting your customers correct you.
2) Seeking help from colleagues/mentor.
Successful salespeople know when to ask for help.
9. Ask the right questions:
Know the prospect before you pitch your solution/product. Sales reps who ask questions about past, present and future are likely to be more successful.
10. Don‘t oversell:
Once you're done with your pitch, lay out a customised plan, then say,‘‘It makes sense to me, what do you think?‘‘ If you’re rejected, make sure you ask your prospect where you went wrong.
As you navigate the dynamic landscape of sales, may these lessons serve as guiding stars, illuminating the path to enduring success and fulfillment. With each interaction and every challenge, may you continue to refine your craft, enriching the lives of others while forging your own legacy of excellence in the world of sales.
